Hey this is Aleks Mitrovic from Archbishop Carroll.
Well the season is over now and its
time to get ready for next year.
Overall, I find this was a successful season because of what we were
able to accomplish.
We might not have won the championship but we brought basketball
back to Carroll.
Looking back on the season, we came out strong beating McNamara in
our first regular
season game and my introduction to the WCAC. At first, I was a
little worried about how I
would fair in one of the best leagues in the country but with the
help of my teammates
and family that worry soon turned into confidence. Helping me with
this transition was
Kris Joseph who I've been friends with for years back to when we
were youngsters in
Montreal
. He went through all this last year when he made the
move to DC.
There were some ups and down this season for me especially. I caught
the flu in the
middle of the season but battled through it and rested when I could
between games because
I knew my team would need me. Right after this, I went into a slump
where I only scored
8pts combined in 4 straight games. Luckily I didn't let that hold me
down and my friends
didn't let me get down on myself. They helped me get back to my old
self.
Even though we didn't finish with a W, I'm glad I made the move. I
met a lot of good
people and made some lifetime friends and memories I'll never
forget. The recruiting
process is still in progress with new schools calling every once in
a while. Its time for
me to just sit down and find the best situation for me.
I got a few people to thank for my success this season. Most of all,
my mom Dusanka
Pavlovic and the rest of my family Andrej, Luka, Nena and my uncle
Aca. As for my friends
there's Kris, Rodney, Dave, Ahmad, Blake, Marco, Tyrell and everyone
else who helped me
feel at home here. Back home, everyone supporting me Kyle, Frank,
Keith, Jiggy, Nkosane,
Kizzy, Ely, Jozef, Dale, AC, and the rest of the Dawson Blues
family. A special thanks to
the Thompson’s who are housing me for the school year.
