Nick Faust is a 6-foot-6 junior shooting guard from Baltimore City College High School in Baltimore, Maryland.  Faust is considered the # 8 player in the Jide Sodipo's Mid Atlantic Hoops spring rankings in the area.  Before playing for Coach Mike Daniels at Baltimore City College, he attended John Carroll high school.  At Baltimore City College Faust has been an outstanding addition to a team that  lost CJ Fair to Brewster Academy.  Some say Faust is the next Kwame Evans.  Faust has an average of 20+ points per game.  In City’s 14-point comeback against Longwood in the Morgan State Basketball Academy classic, Faust scored 27 points.  The next day Faust scored 32 points in City’s heartbreaking loss against Ballou HS (Washington, DC).  Throughout the season Faust has learned about shot selection, making him a very important asset for the Knights.  I recently had a sit down with Faust.

Mid Atlantic Hoops: How is Coach Mike Daniels’ style of play different from pervious coaches?

Nick Faust:  At my other school we didn’t have a fast offense.  Here Coach Mike has a controlled and unique offense.

Mid Atlantic Hoops: How does it feel to be one of City’s premier guards?

Nick Faust:  It feels good because it’s a dream come true.  It comes to show that hard work pays off.

Mid Atlantic Hoops:  How did it feel to win State Championships this year?

Nick Faust:  It felt really good.  AS a team we went through a lot of up and downs and we were able to overcome every obstacle thrown at us.

Mid Atlantic Hoops: How hard did you work this year?

Nick Faust:  I worked very hard.  Every day after practice I stayed after to make sure I had all the plays down for the up coming game.

Mid Atlantic Hoops:  What do you expect for next season?

Nick Faust: To put it plainly, I expect to win another State Championship.

Mid Atlantic Hoops: What colleges have shown a lot of interest in you?

Nick Faust:  Penn State, Xavier, Syracuse, and Marquette

Many people say Faust is a dead ringer for Will Barton.  I guess because Barton is his cousin.  It seems like great talent runs in the family.  Faust is sporting Barton’s #5 Nike Baltimore Elite Jersey isn’t the half of it. Faust has the same 6’6 body style, wiry frame and game style.  Faust can score and there’s no doubt about that.  He can also make the deep jumper with defenders in his face.  Just like Will Faust is an all around player with a lot of talent.  Don’t be surprised if Faust is ranked in the top 25 in the nation going into his senior year.  All I can say is that Faust has all the potential of going into the pros as long as he keeps up all his hard work.  Only the future will tell.
