Enrique Gumbs, a 6-foot-9 Rising SR PF/C 230 pounds from Caravel Academy in Bear, Delaware, is drawing early interest from variety of schools according to his AAU coach, Duane Coverdale of the Delaware Sharpshooters. A Reebok Sponsor AAU Traveling team.

 Erique Gumbs, a 6-foot-9 rising SR PF/F from Caravel Academy in Bear, Delaware is an intriguing prospect who can play either the four spot or center position in college. Gumbs is comfortable at playing with his back to the basket and he’s a strong left handed kid. He can shoot it outside up to 15ft, but the shot needs to improve, but he does have potential as a Mid/High Major prospect.

I spoke with Coverdale today and he gave me a list of schools that have been in contact with Gumbs.

“George Mason, George Washington, LaSalle, Towson, Delaware and Delaware State,” said Coverdale.

Coverdale said Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Rutgers, West Virginia, Virginia also has extended in interests in Gumbs without any scholarship offers.

The Jide Sodipo’s Mid Atlantic Hoops.Com 2007-08 State of Delaware Player of the Year is a good student averaged 12.6 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as a junior leading is his high school team to a 22-4 overall record.  Gumb has maintained a B in classroom according to Coverdale.

Coverdale said Gumbs he’s in no hurry to reach a decision and he will play the rest of the summer traveling with Delaware Sharpshooters. He will also be attending the Reebok U All American Camp.
