Maryland has seen his options
increase after a good showing this spring playing with his Team Melo
Nike Sponsor AAU squad.
Andrew Fitzgerald, a 6-foot-8 rising
senior power forward-center from Baltimore, Maryland exploded on the
scene this past spring with his much improved plays has seen his
options increase after good showing this spring. After a strong
showing this past April at the Boo Williams Nike Invitational
tournament, King James Shootout, Pittsburgh , though, and solid
outings in April, Fitzgerald has a number of colleges expressing
interest in him increased.
I spoke with Fitzgerald earlier today and
asked about the state of his recruitment.
“Maryland,
Pittsburgh,
Minnesota, Seton Hall and Texas A&M have
offered," said Fitzgerald. “Louisville,
Tennessee, Oklahoma,
Baylor, Miami (FL), Kentucky,
Marquette
and Boston College
are also showing major interests. I got calls from
Coach Betts from Oklahoma today and Coach
Rick Pitino from
Louisville called me yesterday."
Fitzgerald went on to say, "I am
visiting Louisville in August -- I've been told that they plan to
offer me scholarship during my visit.
And I plan on visiting
Tennessee & Boston College in
July and Oklahoma in august.
Fitzgerald said he'll be attending
Brewster Academy this fall to play for Jason Smith.
"I'm not sure when I'll decide," said
Fitzgerald. "I'll just play it out and see what happens by summer
ends."
Fitzgerald will finish up his
summer AAU traveling with Team Melo. He will also be participating
in Amare Stoudemire Nike Skills Academy camp, June 20-23'2008.
